The
launch of Sir Jonathan's solar powered boat 29 May 2010
The
naming of "Agapanthus" 19 June 2010
A good number of
KEBC members turned out to witness the naming of Sir
Jonathan Tod's solar powered boat at the Crabshell on 19
June 2010. Some members even took the trouble to fully
dress their boats. The RNLI turned up too and £118 was
collected for them. There was free bubbly and beer.
"Agapanthus" was named after a sun-loving
plant, carefully cultivated in Lady Claire's garden. The
Salcombe Harbour Master, Ian Gibson, checked the speed of
"Agapanthus", and found it was doing 6.2 knots
in a 6 knot restricted zone, but for once, and in the
spirit of the occasion did not proceed with any
reprimand. Chris Shipp recorded the speed trials on
video. (see right)
